Keep it simple, sister!
Dr. Bach was all about simplicity. It was one of his favorite words.
In creating his flower essence system the goal was to for it to be easy for anyone to use at anytime.
Sometimes though, choosing Bach flowers for yourself can seem like a less than simple process. Especially when you’re first starting out.
It’s a common scenario – you find yourself at Whole Foods standing in front of the flowers. As you begin to read the indications on the bottles you start feeling as if you need all 38 flowers! Your head starts to spin and you either walk away entirely or end up buying way more than you need. Either way, you likely leave confused, overwhelmed and perhaps a little put off by the entire experience.
I’ve walked in those shoes my friends and, I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Choosing Bach flowers does not have to be a complicated, gut wrenching, hand wringing experience.
Just keep the following two principles in mind when choosing your remedies and let your instincts and the flowers take it from there.
1. Forget your aches and pains!
That’s right. Leave the physical symptoms at the door when choosing Bach flowers.
In this day and age it seems that many like to talk about how they physically feel. Ask someone how they are and you’ll usually hear something like, “Oh I have a headache” or “My back hurts.” For whatever reason we tend to equate our complete state of being with only our physical health.
Not so with Bach flowers! Since flowers work to balance emotional states, not physical ones, I want you to forget what physically ails you and tap into your emotions. In Bach world it does not matter that you broke your leg, or have a migraine. What matters is how you feel about it.
2. Treat what you see.
It’s tempting, when embarking on any kind of self help system, to want to dig deep and get to the root cause of all your issues at once. Many methods even require that kind of deep self analysis. But that’s unnecessary with Bach flowers. The beauty of the system is that the flowers will do the digging for you!
In the land of Bach we ask that you stay on the surface. Choose a remedy for what’s bothering you in the present moment. If there are underlying issues that need to be addressed the flowers will make way for them to rise up as the current imbalances fade away. It helps to think of it like peeling back layers of an onion.
And that’s it!
Forget the physical and treat what you see.
And, if all else fails, just keep in mind they old adage K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple sister!
You won’t go wrong.
